Diana's Tatting

About Me

I am 47 yrs old and have 2 sons. One is 26 and the other is 10.  I have been tatting for 28 years, although I feel intermediate level skills.  I think everyone knows how long they have been tatting.  It's a milestone, like quitting smoking, which I've also done.  With smoking, I know I quit in October of 2007, but I made sure I didn't internalize the day because I don't want to get to that day every year and say, "this is the anniversary of  the day I quit smoking."  That just keeps you chained to that very last cigarrette. 

Anyway, about tatting.  I remember where I was and who taught me to tat.  We worked together and went on breaks together.  She would tat and I would sit in awe, watching her.  I asked her to teach me.  I thought I was doing pretty well, under over, over under.  Then I looked at her and couldn't see her hands; they were moving so fast.  I lost track of her, but I think about her every time I pick up a shuttle.
