Braterscained 2-what I Forgot Yesterday!

September 28, 2006 / by dianatats

I started this out yesterday about being scatterbrained.  I got a lot said, or I used a lot of words and space saying not a whole lot, but forgot where I had planned to go with it to begin with.

My necklace! (LOL)  I put all of the beads on 1 continuous thread.  I know how many rings I want in total.  I have to divide them in half so that I have half on the right hand side and half on the left hand side.  When I use special beads for only a few rings, I have to calculate it differently.  I got an A in college trig, but I can't count change any more because of the brain damage.  I have to calculate where I put beads on the string so that the beads I want as the focal point are at the front of the necklace.  If I do half a necklace with one kind of bead and half with another kind of bead I put 30 on one side and 30 on the other.  If I'm using less than half of the beads with only a few focal point beads.....I don't know how I figured it out the first time.......the Christmas necklace in the previous posting.  I was up late last night trying to figure it out for a necklace I'm making for a little girl.  Finally I had to string them all out on the table to figure it out.  I made 2 rows of beads in equal numbers (with the focal point beads in the middle of one of the rows of beads) to add up to my total number of rings.  Then I strung one set, then the other to put them all together.  It worked great, but I should have been able to figure it out in my head.  I would have been able to before my accident.

I like the quote from a dumb Star Trek episode (there aren't many dumb episodes, though, LOL): "Brain and brain!  What is brain?!"

Hi Diana. [SMILE] Those accidents can really mess with a person's thoughts. I have noticed that by observing others who have had injuries. Hope it is only temporary for you.[SMILE][HEART]

Kathy, Thank you. Unfortunately, the changes are permanent. The accident was in Nov 98. I started working again 3 months later, but after 3 years, pain had progressed and I couldn't even sit all night anymore. Plus, working made it so I had to have a baby sitter for while I worked AND while I slept. I'll have pain for the rest of my life. My memory won't come back and despite everything, I know I had to be in that accident (looking backward. I could never have assumed I should stop working).
